Investment from Caring for Denver Foundation Supports Broad Expansion of CWEE’s Mental Health Focus

The Caring for Denver Foundation, a 2018 taxpayer-funded initiative designed to provide greater support and access for community members suffering from mental health and substance use disorders, recently announced $14.6 million in investments in local nonprofits.

As one of the 36 funded programs, CWEE will be able to add another experienced mental health counselor to our team, develop a peer support program, and extend mental health counseling to the family members of our career seekers.

When asked about the importance of extending mental health support to family members, CWEE’s Director of Organizational Wellness, Anna Tekippe, explains, “Families aren’t experiencing life in isolation from their community or from each other. Having support for the whole family within their community will increase access and the responsiveness of the support we provide.”

CWEE’s Caring for Denver grant includes an opportunity to partner with ResultsLab to support the creation and deployment of evaluation and data-gathering tools across the organization. The partnership with ResultsLab and Caring for Denver allows CWEE to analyze our mental health practices and further inform our data gathering to ensure every aspect of our program is trauma-informed and we are serving our participants most effectively.

Providing access to mental health support is core to CWEE’s approach when it comes to workforce development, and it is thanks to partnerships with community-based groups such as Caring for Denver and ResultsLab that we are able to harness the significant resources required to holistically support the success and well-being of our career seekers and their families.
