Welcome New CWEE Team Members!

It’s an exciting time for our organization as new professionals join CWEE’s talented staff team. They come on board at a crucial time, as the recession continues and more and more displaced workers need CWEE’s support to start or transition their careers.

Seven new team members started their positions on Monday, August 24, and one more will begin on September 15.

Here’s a bit about each of CWEE’s new hires and the varied experience they bring.

Suzy Broz, Career Advisor Lead

Suzy brings 10 years of experience in teaching, advising and program coordination in roles within K-12, higher education, and community-based nonprofit organizations. Most recently, she worked to connect DPS students to apprenticeship opportunities for in-demand industries across the Denver Metro area. Suzy believes everyone deserves access to education that provides economic mobility, which is what drew her to CWEE.

Nakato Nteza, Career Advisor

Nakato is currently an master’s of social work student at Rutgers University, which moved to online due to COVID-19, which brought Nakato back to Colorado, and to CWEE. She completed an internship this past year with Prevent Child Abuse New Jersey where she supported parent education programs across the state. Prior to school, Nakato worked at Colorado Youth for a Change in Denver reengaging high school dropouts by addressing barriers and connecting students to resources.

Annie Rowland-Peterson, Career Advisor

Annie most recently served as a College Advisor for Student Services at Emily Griffith Technical College. In this role she worked with Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Adult Basic Education (ABE) students on career pathways, academic requirements and job outlooks. Anna recently presented to state leaders as part of the Skillful Governor’s Coaching Corps, where her action team proposed changes to state leaders that promote work-based learning pathways as post-secondary options.

Mikki Galiz, Career Advisor

Mikki comes to us with experience spanning educational, nonprofit, private sector and government roles, including over 13 years of experience working with the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation for the State of Colorado. Mikki also worked at a satellite office for the Community College of Denver in the past and engaged with CWEE as a referral partner.

Savanna Depew, TANF Specialist

Savanna will be transferring her technical and administrative skills from her most recent position as a Provider Enrollment Specialist with Encompass Healthcare to working with Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). Savanna also brings strong communication skills from her educational background and a commitment to creating dialogue around topics of diversity and inclusion. This work is a particular passion for Savanna and part of her ongoing volunteer role as an Organizer with Youth Celebrate Diversity.

Andrea Jung, TANF Specialist

Andrea joined CWEE as our first TANF specialist after the restructure toward online delivery and expanded program access. Andrea’s most recent work experience includes three years at the Denver Rescue Mission where she worked as a Work Readiness and Safety Administrator. Prior to that, Andrea worked in the culinary industry. Andrea first engaged with CWEE in April, when we were hiring another position, and we are grateful for her patience and commitment.

Ashley Blue, Employment Services Specialist

Ashley has most recently worked in a human resources capacity and as a Technical Recruiter, skills she will be putting to good use within CWEE’s Employment Services Team. Prior to transitioning her career to HR, Ashley served as a Victim Advocate at an emergency shelter for survivors of domestic violence.

Hannah Hines, Development Associate

Hannah is a familiar name as she has been a CWEE partner in her previous role with Open Media Foundation (OMF). While Hannah wore many hats at OMF, one of her main projects was coordinating the Career Engine Project, which included oversight of grant applications, corporate sponsorships and underwriting. Prior to OMF, Hannah worked as a jewelry designer with L’Image.
